Introduction

As Omada Controller continues to improve its capabilities, starting with version 6.3, Omada Controller will undergo unified optimization. Under the new versioning strategy, Omada Controller will no longer differentiate between Pro and Standard versions, providing a consistent product experience. At the same time, some advanced features that were originally exclusive to the Pro version will also be available in the Standard version to improve the overall product experience and functional consistency. For users who have previously purchased relevant licenses, the platform will also provide a complete rights transfer and transition plan to ensure that the existing user experience and existing rights can be smoothly continued.

Configuration

Cloud Based Pro Controller

1. The Omada Cloud Pro Licenses page will be removed.

All Cloud Based Pro Controllers will be converted to Standard Cloud Based Controllers. Therefore, the Omada Cloud Pro License page will be removed for Cloud Based Controllers.

2. Pro Licenses will be converted to Standard Licenses.

Pro Licenses will be automatically converted into Standard Licenses. Compensation licenses will be granted accordingly based on the rules.

Local Pro Controller (Local Software Pro Controller and C5300)

1. If choose not to upgrade to Omada v6.3

Existing licenses for the Local Pro Controller will remain unaffected. The Omada On-Premises Pro Licenses feature in Omada Cloud will be disabled in a future version. New users are advised to use Omada Controller v6.3 directly.

2. If choose to upgrade to Omada v6.3.

The Local Controller License functionality will be removed. Controller v6.3 can manage Omada Pro devices and includes all the features of the Pro Controller. After the upgrade, the original Local Pro Licenses will be deleted, cannot be downgraded, and cannot be recovered.

Check your Compensation Licenses

After the upgrade, Pro Licenses will be converted to Standard Licenses automatically. Local Pro Controller is not included in the compensation scope as it is free of charge.

In addition, as a thank-you for your support, we will grant you compensation Standard Licenses based on your aggregated remaining Pro License time. The compensation is calculated as follows:

1. Calculate the remaining duration (excluding Trial Licenses).

2. Add up the remaining time.

3. Grant a corresponding duration of 1-Year and Monthly Licenses. If the number of Monthly Licenses is greater than or equal to 12, they will be automatically converted into 1-Year Licenses.

Q1: Will my devices go offline after conversion?

A1: No. All previously bound devices remain online.

Q2: My Pro License was assigned to an MSP sub-org — where is the compensation?

A2: The compensation licenses have been granted to that sub-organization’s license pool.

Q3: I have a Pro License activation code — where is my compensation?

A3: The compensation Standard Licenses have been added to the same activation code automatically.

Q4: Are expired Pro Licenses eligible for compensation?

A4: No. Only valid (non-expired) Pro Licenses with remaining duration are eligible for compensation. Expired licenses are not included.

Q5: How can the compensated licenses be used?

A5: The compensated Standard Licenses will be automatically added to your account. You can view and assign them in the License Management page after the upgrade. Pro Licenses are no longer available, and all new purchases should use Standard Licenses.
