Local Pro Controller (Local Software Pro Controller and C5300)
Introduction
Starting with Omada Controller v6.3, Omada Pro Controller and Standard Controller are unified into a single Omada Controller, providing a consistent licensing and product experience.
All features previously available only in the Pro Controller, including Intelligent Incident Detection, are now included in the Standard Controller at no additional cost.
Existing Pro Licenses will be converted automatically to Standard Licenses. Your existing licenses, functionality, activation status, and remaining subscription period will all be preserved.
No user action is required to complete the conversion.
Requirements
- Omada Software Controller v6.3
- Omada Pro Controller (including Local Pro Controller and Cloud Based Pro Controller)
Cloud Based Pro Controller
The conversion consists of two independent steps.
Step 1. License Conversion (No Loss of Existing Entitlements)
The conversion will not reduce or impact your current entitlements in any way:
- License quantity will remain unchanged.
- Activation status will remain unchanged.
- Remaining subscription validity will remain unchanged.
All existing Pro Licenses will be converted to the corresponding Standard Licenses on a 1:1 basis. The new Standard License includes all functionality previously available in Pro Licenses. Only the license type changes. Your original licenses are fully preserved.
Step 2. Compensation Standard License Program
After all existing licenses have been converted, additional Compensation Standard Licenses will be granted as a token of appreciation for your continued support.
These Compensation Standard Licenses are additional licenses and do not replace your converted licenses.
The Compensation Standard Licenses are provided as new, unactivated Standard Licenses, which can later be assigned to new devices, other Sites, or MSP sub-organizations.
Compensation Standard License Calculation
Only valid Pro Licenses with remaining subscription time are included in the calculation.
The calculation follows these rules:
- For activated licenses, the remaining subscription period is used.
- For unactivated licenses, the full subscription period is used.
- Trial Licenses are not included.
- The remaining subscription periods of all eligible licenses are added together.
- The total duration is converted into Compensation Standard Licenses:
- Every 365 days earns one 1-Year Standard License.
- Remaining days are converted into Monthly Standard Licenses, with each partial month rounded up to one month.
Note: Monthly Standard Licenses are provided only as compensation for remaining subscription periods. They are not available for individual purchase.
Example:
If the total remaining subscription period is 13 years 65 days:
13 years → 13 × 1-Year Standard License
65 days → 3 × Monthly Standard Licenses (rounded up)
The total Compensation Standard Licenses are:
13 × 1-Year Standard License
3 × Monthly Standard Licenses
Conversion Example:
In this example, the original 50 Pro Licenses are first converted into 50 Standard Licenses. The aggregated remaining subscription period is 13 years and 65 days, resulting in 16 Compensation Standard Licenses (13 × 1-Year and 3 × Monthly). The customer therefore owns 66 Standard Licenses after the conversion.
