Introduction

The Omada Fusion Pro Gateway integrates networking and security management into a single platform, allowing administrators to centrally manage VIGI cameras and Network Video Recorders (NVRs) through Omada Guard. Whether the devices are deployed on the same network segment or across Layer 3 networks, they can be discovered and adopted through the gateway for unified monitoring and management.

This article explains how to add VIGI cameras and NVRs to an Omada Fusion Pro Gateway using either the web interface or the Omada Guard App, and provides troubleshooting guidance for device discovery and adoption.

Requirements

  • Omada Fusion Pro Gateway
  • VIGI Devices (NVR/IPC) with corresponding firmware version

Configuration

Method 1: Add VIGI devices through the web interface

Step 1. Adopt devices automatically

Connect the device to the Omada Fusion Pro Gateway, go to Omada Guard > Devices, and click the Adopt button to complete device adoption.

Show the position of Devices page on Omada Fusion Pro Gateway.

Troubleshooting device discovery

If the device is not discovered automatically, verify the following:

  • The device is powered on and operating normally.
  • The device is connected to the network and reachable from the Fusion Pro Gateway.
  • The device is not already managed by another controller or VMS.
  • For third-party cameras, ONVIF is enabled.
  • The device model is listed in the compatibility list.
  • Omada Guard is running the latest supported version.

Step 2. Add devices through IP address

In Layer 3 deployment scenarios, devices can discover and connect to Omada Guard through a configured platform access address.

For VIGI NVR

Navigate to:

Network > Platform Access

Configure the following:

  • Platform Access Mode: Inform URL
  • Server IP Address: IP address of the Omada Fusion Pro Gateway (for example, 192.168.188.1)

For VIGI IPC

Navigate to:

Network Settings > Network Service > Platform Access

Configure the following:

  • Platform Access Mode: IP Address
  • Server IP Address: IP address of the Omada Fusion Pro Gateway (default: 192.168.188.1)

The following example uses a VIGI NVR.

Show the position of IP Address page on NVR standalone page.

Step 3. Configure VIGI Cloud (optional)

If VIGI Cloud is selected as the Platform Access Mode, the device will be managed through the VIGI Cloud platform instead of Omada Guard.

After enabling VIGI Cloud access, click Login and bind the device to the desired VIGI Cloud environment.

Show the position of the VIGI Cloud access configuration page on the NVR standalone management page.

Note: Devices connected through VIGI Cloud are associated with a VMS ID. A device can be managed only by the VMS instance to which it is bound.

Step 4. Add 3rd-Party Device

Navigate to:

Devices > Preference > Add 3rd-Party Device

to add a third-party device.

Note: Fusion Pro Gateway supports a maximum number of managed devices. If the device limit has been reached, existing devices must be removed before additional devices can be added.

Method 2: Add VIGI devices through the Omada Guard App

Step 1. Discover the Fusion Pro Gateway

Local mode

Ensure the mobile device and the Fusion Pro Gateway are connected to the same local network. Typically, this can be achieved by connecting the mobile device to a Wi-Fi SSID within the same LAN.

Discover Fusion Gateway on App in cloud mode.
Open the App and switch to Cloud Mode. The App can then discover Fusion Pro Gateways within the same local network. After the gateway is added, it can be managed locally through the App.

Cloud mode

Enable Cloud Access and bind the Fusion Pro Gateway to a TP-Link ID.

Show the position of Cloud Access feature.

The Fusion Pro Gateway can then be discovered through the Omada Guard App.

Step 2. Discover and adopt devices

Open the Fusion Pro Gateway in the Omada Guard App and navigate to Devices. The app automatically displays devices discovered by the Fusion Pro Gateway on the local network.

To manually discover devices, tap the "+" icon in the upper-right corner.

The Fusion Pro Gateway scans for available devices and displays the discovered devices. Select the desired device, enter its credentials, and complete the adoption process.

Note:

  • The default device username is admin.
  • Use the device's current password when prompted.

Step 3. Verify device credentials

After credential verification is completed, the verification results are displayed.

Tap Complete to return to the device list.

The following adoption results may be displayed:

  • Successfully verified devices are added with the status Connected.
  • Devices that fail verification are displayed with the status Adoption Failed.
  • Some failed devices support re-verification.

VIGI devices are adopted unsuccessfully in the App.

Note: If all selected devices are in the Uninitialized state, credential verification is not required and the devices can be adopted directly.

Note: When the maximum device limit is reached, additional devices cannot be selected for adoption.

Device status reference

The following device statuses may appear during device adoption:

Status

Description

Pending

The device has not previously been adopted by this Fusion Pro Gateway.

Adopt Failed

Device credential verification failed.

Managed by Others

The device is currently managed by another controller or VMS instance.

Unsupported Firmware

The device firmware version does not support adoption by the Fusion Pro Gateway.

Not Initialized

The device has not yet completed initialization. Select Initialize to begin the initialization process.

Connected

The device has been successfully adopted and is operating normally.

Conclusion

By adding VIGI cameras and NVRs to an Omada Fusion Pro Gateway, administrators can consolidate network and surveillance management within a single platform. Once adopted, security devices can be monitored, configured, and maintained through Omada Guard, simplifying deployment and ongoing operations.
