How to Configure MAC Flapping on Omada Managed Switches

MAC flapping is a network monitoring feature that detects when the same MAC address is learned on different switch ports within a short period of time. This behavior typically indicates issues such as network loops, misconfigured link aggregation, virtualization migration, or unauthorized device connections.

How to Use an Omada Controller to Manage Omada Devices Across Different Subnets Over the Internet

In enterprise networks, devices are often deployed across different subnets, making it common for Omada devices and the Omada Controller to reside in separate network segments. Supporting device adoption and management across subnets enables centralized control without changing existing network designs. This article introduces different methods for adopting devices across subnets using Omada products.

How to implement an external DHCP server with DHCP Relay in the Omada Ecosystem with Omada Switches

In some network environments within the Omada Ecosystem, a third-party (external) DHCP server may be required instead of using the gateway’s built-in DHCP service. This guide explains how to configure Omada Switches to ensure that client devices can correctly reach and obtain IP addresses from the designated DHCP server after connecting to the network via DHCP Relay.

What is DHCP Snooping and DAI and How to Configure Them on Omada Switches When Adopted on Omada Controller

DHCP Snooping and Dynamic ARP Inspection (DAI) are essential Layer 2 security features designed to enhance network protection. Both features are parts of IP-MAC-Port Binding (IMPB) on Omada switches. For DHCP Snooping, the feature dynamically builds and maintains an IP-MAC-Port binding table by snooping legitimate DHCP transactions. This table records valid associations between a client's IP address, MAC address, connected port, VLAN, and lease duration.

How to Maintain Management VLAN and Port Settings When Adopting Switches on Omada Network V6

Before Omada Controller V6, when adopting a switch on controller, the default configuration will be applied to the switch and override all the previous pre-configuration done in standalone mode. This could cause inconvenience while adopting switches to a network which management VLAN is not the default VLAN. If the default configuration, especially the default VLAN interface, overrides the pre-configuration done on the switch, it will be disconnected after adoption and hard to recover.

How to configure Management VLAN for Omada Devices

The management VLAN is a VLAN created to separate the management network from the data network. By default, the management VLAN is the LAN network in a network centrally managed by Omada SDN Controller. You can change the management VLAN to improve network security. With a separated management VLAN, it is much harder for unauthorized users to modify the configurations or monitor the network.
