Objective

This guide introduces the use of IntelliRecover, available on Omada Central, for device status monitoring and intelligent recovery.

Requirements

  • Omada Central
  • Omada Switch with PoE
  • PoE-powered devices

Introduction

IntelliRecover is a feature that integrates device status monitoring and automatic recovery mechanisms. It is designed to enhance the self-healing capabilities of network devices and reduce manual intervention. This feature applies to all terminal devices powered by PoE.

IntelliRecover Configuration

IntelliRecover can monitor the online status of devices in real-time. When it detects an anomaly, it automatically triggers a PoE power-off and restart attempt to repair the faulty device, thereby ensuring the continuous operation of the device and the stability of the network.

Step 1. Log in to Omada Central via a web browser, then go to Tools > InterlliRecover. You can also access IntelliRecover through the Quick Config on the Home page.

Alt text: Enter IntelliRecover from the left-side tab bar.

Step 2. Click Settings and enable the Auto Recovery. You can set the Maximum Auto Recovery Times here. Then click Save to save the configuration.

Alt text: Enable auto recovery and set the maximum recovery times.

Step 3. Click Add, select the devices or clients that need to enable the IntelliRecover feature, and then click Apply.

Alt text: Select the device or client to configure IntelliRecover.

Note:

IntelliRecover applies to all devices powered by PoE of Omada Switch, such as APs, IPCs, and other client devices. For client device monitoring, it is recommended to monitor only end devices. Monitoring intermediate network devices is not advised, as triggering a PoE power-off may cause network interruptions for downstream devices.

Step 4. View the operating status of IntelliRecover.

Alt text: View the overall IntelliRecover configuration status.

Note:

1. When a device triggers IntelliRecover, an event log will indicate whether the recovery was successful or failed.

2. When a device no longer meets the IntelliRecover conditions (e.g., it is no longer powered by an Omada Switch via PoE), a corresponding notification will be displayed in the status list.

3. When the number of restart attempts reaches the user-defined limit, an alert is generated, and the device will no longer be attempted to restart.

4. View all device logs by clicking Logs on the IntelliRecover page.

Alt text: View logs of the configured IntelliRecover devices.

Conclusion

The above is an introduction to IntelliRecover on Omada Central.
